I would love to talk to you about the first indie game I ever played - LIMBO.
I won’t talk to you about the story simply because the less you know about it the more you’ll enjoy your experience - it’s that kind of game!
First of all - THIS GAME IS GORGEOUS. The whole esthetic is just perfect. The lover of film and photography in me is just ~literally in love~ with the whole style of the game. The black-and-white tone and the lighting they use add so much to the game play. LIMBO also reminded me a lot of a film genre called “German Expressionism” - a genre I studied a lot and admired during my cinematography classes.
So yeah, the style of LIMBO at the very beginning grabbed me so much because it has a bunch of visual stuff I already loved a lot.
I’m not gonna lie - this game is scary and stressful. The minimal ambient sounds add so much to the mystery of the story (I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND playing the game with a headset). Like I said - the visuals add a lot to the gameplay because a bunch of creep things can be easily hidden in the shadows~ LIMBO is a two-dimensional platform game with challenging puzzles. The learning curve is smooth - you’ll probably die A LOT.
The more you explore, the more you’ll be scared by the world you are stuck in and some parts of the game are just heartbreaking (I had a LOT of shivers because - ugh.)
LIMBO is dark, strange, unsettling and SO captivating.
You can find the game on a bunch of platforms including Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.
